3.

Last week: 3rd

The top three sides did what they had to in order to get wins over cellar-dwelling opponents this weekend. The Dragons edged ahead on the competition table thanks to winning by a point more than Penrith did while the Bunnies did the necessary and got home over the Titans.

4.

Last week: 5th

Benefited from the week off greatly. Took a little while to click against Brisbane but once they did it was a joy to watch and reminiscent of the 2017 edition of the Storm. Will rampage back into top four contention if they can pick up wins over the coming weeks.

5.

Last week: 4th

Challenged by a keen Wests Tigers side but showed enough class to grab the win. Need to impress against a big-name opponent to be considered a top four chance.

6.

Last week: 7th

Johnson returns and, while the opposition weren't too crash-hot, the Warriors fired. This mob are usually strong during Origin so it remains to be seen how they'll fare afterwards...

7.

Last week: 6th

Newcastle gave them a scare in the Hunter, but they have to lift if they want to account for Penrith this Friday.

8.

Last week: 8th

Started like world-beaters against Melbourne then got trampled. Serious credential test looms on Saturday in the Shire.

9.

Last week: 9th

This column last week suggested starting Reynolds in the halves and they did - but it wasn't enough. Host Canberra this Sunday and will want a win to stay in touch with the eight.

10.

Last week: 10th

Pushed the Roosters all the way and lost no admirers. Still a smoky for the finals if they can jag a few wins - and will be helped over the coming month by a run of home games.

11.

Last week: 11th

Another home game, another heartbreaking close loss. Stuart's men just don't seem to know how to close out games sometimes...

12.

Last week: 14th

Gave the competition leaders a run for their money but like in so many other games this year, they fell short. Will be keen to improve on their indifferent Belmore record this Saturday.

13.

Last week: 15th

Gave a good account of themselves against the Bunnies but let the red and green out of jail. Should be able to lift and down the Doggies on Saturday.

14.

Last week: 12th

The rollercoaster ride continued with a surprisingly poor performance against a rejuvenated Parramatta. Need a good result against the Warriors if they're going to keep away from wooden spoon chit-chat.

15.

Last week: 13th

Really poor showing against the Warriors on Saturday. Could sink further with a loss to the Dragons this weekend.

16.

Last week: 16th

A much-needed win over an indifferent Cowboys outfit. Showed some hunger we haven't seen for a while but not enough to move off the bottom of the table.
