Experience first, rookies second for Mal's Kangaroos

New Australian coach Mal Meninga will be sticking with old heads for May's Trans-Tasman Test against New Zealand.

With speculation rife that boom rep rookies in James Tedesco, Dylan Napa and Matt Moylan could feature in test calculations, Meninga has said the green and gold will likely only get an injection of youth and inexperience if injuries creep into the senior squad.

The former Maroons coach went on to suggest it was important for any rookie putting their hand up for Australian selection to get their rep badges with their respective states first - in the arena of Origin.

"In this particular game I don't think we can speculate on new talent," Meninga told News Ltd yesterday. "We've only got a five-day turnaround, so combinations and cohesion is really important if we are going to be successful."

The test takes place on Friday May 6th at Newcastle's Hunter Stadium, with teams selected on Sunday May 1st.

Meanwhile, Penrith's Reagan Campbell-Gillard faces a dilemma, with selection for both City Origin and Fiji a possibility. 'RCG' has a decision to make - and only 10 days left in which to make it.
