Storm keep Titans scoreless in record shut-out

v BYE

Melbourne have kept the Gold Coast Titans scoreless for the first time in the home side's history at Robina's Cbus Super Stadium, the visitors recording a 38-0 victory in front of 10,124 supporters.

Despite some early ball, the Titans never looked likely, giving up the first try off a freak kick receive by Cheyse Blair. The Storm's replacement winger ran 60 metres to open the scoring, which started a comfortable afternoon for the visitors.

Cooper Cronk blitzed the field with two brilliant support tries - one in each half - after breaks from Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Cameron Munster respectively. Munster in particular was outstanding, with 158 run metres and two try assists of his own.

Suliasi Vunivalu got himself in the record books as the first player in the NRL to score doubles in each of his three games, with a try at each end of his own, while Tohu Harris and Blake Green both got their names on the scoresheet as well.

Kenny Bromwich was sin binned in the 54th minute and might have a case to answer with the NRL's Match Review Committee after supposedly throwing a punch at an opposing player, in an otherwise uneventful game. Storm and Kangaroos captain Cameron Smith was interchanged after the visitors' final try in order to keep him fresh for Friday's test match against the Kiwis.

In a fortnight the Storm are back in action against the Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium as part of the NRL Double Header on Saturday May 14, while the Titans are at home to the Roosters the following Monday.
