Broncos humble poor Bunnies

v BYE

Brisbane have comfortably accounted for South Sydney on a cold Saturday night in Sydney, recording a 30-10 away victory in front of 13,111 fans.

The writing was on the wall early for the Bunnies, with Adam Reynolds withdrawing in the warm-up after aggravating his injury. The resulting reshuffle disjointed the home side's defence and within five minutes returning winger Lachlan Maranta had opened the scoring in the corner. Jordan Kahu converted for 6-0.

South Sydney eventually righted the ship a little - enough for an 11th minute try to Luke Keary which, converted by Cody Walker, brought the scores level at 6 a-piece.

That would be as close as the Rabbitohs would get to Brisbane - Ben Hunt and Corey Oates crossed within the ten minutes after Keary's try and the Broncos found themselves ahead by twelve. The remainder of the half was fairly uninspiring, Brisbane taking an 18-6 lead into the sheds.

Brisbane looked to have extended their advantage in the 53rd minute when Maranta claimed a double, but a Bunker review denied him, ruling he'd made contact with the touchline. The visitors didn't need to wait much longer however, with James Roberts dummying and fending his way to score under the posts.

Souths feeble defence was bad enough - but their attack was what delivered Brisbane's last try of the evening when Corey Oates intercepted an awful pass, and ran 90 metres to score.

Cody Walker added a late four-pointer for the home team with twelve minutes remaining but with the try unconverted the scoreline read 30-10 and the twenty point margin is what the Broncos would take from the contest.

Next week Brisbane head home to Suncorp Stadium where they'll face the Penrith Panthers, while the Rabbitohs are at home to Manly next Monday night, but at Allianz Stadium rather than their current main ground of ANZ.
