Kieran Foran may not appear for the Warriors as soon as hoped, Fairfax reports.
Chief Fairfax League writer Adrian Proszenko says the star signing - due to return Round 3 against the Bulldogs in Dunedin - may not appear so quickly, with recovery from a shoulder injury jeopardising his chances.
The NRL cleared the five-eighth for a likely return in Round 3 several weeks ago, however it's understood he will be racing the clock to be ready for the clash against Canterbury, the club hesitant to risk rushing him back after splashing out to attract him there.
Warriors' CEO Jim Doyle indicated the club has been aware of the injury, but Foran himself remains convinced he'll be taking the field come Round 3.
The NRL's approval of Foran's contract remains subject to a psychological assessment.
