A social media storm over Dally M votes from a Round 7 NRL match has seen Jillaroos player Ruan Sims resign from her role as Dally M judge.

Sims was assigned to judge the Eels-Sea Eagles clash at ANZ Stadium last Sunday April 22, however a change to the NSWRL Women's Premiership schedule meant she was playing for the Cronulla-Caringbah Sharks at the same time as the match she was supposed to be judging.

Subsequently, Sims watched a replay and gave points based on that viewing, rather than being directly at the ground watching live. Points were given to Mitchell Moses, Tim Mannah (both Eels) and Api Koroisau (Sea Eagles).

Today, Sims released a statement confirming events and ultimately stepping down as judge:

Later, the NRL's dedicated media account confirmed with a short statement they would have the game reviewed.

More to come.
