Raiders spoil Lyon farewell in pointsfest

v BYE

Even without Blake Austin, the Raiders proved themselves a formidable attacking machine, running in eight tries in a 44-30 victory over the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.

Some impressive numbers from the Raiders' backs helped their team to their ninth straight win.

An early try to Paul Vaughan, followed by two first half tries to Jordan Rapana, set the tone for the afternoon.

Jake Trbojevic crossed in the 26th minute, followed by his brother in the 33rd, but the Sea Eagles trailed at the break 18-10.

The Raiders came out much fresher after half time, and two quick tries to BJ Leilua really took the game away from the Manly side. The Sea Eagles right edge defence had no answers to the power of Leilua and the speed of Rapana, as they scored a double and a triple respectively.

Second half tries to Edrick Lee and Jack Wighton further added to the Raiders' tally.

It wasn't all plain sailing for Canberra, however, with the Sea Eagles running in try after try in a red hot period towards the end of the game.

Tom Trbojevic finished the game with a triple, with Cherry-Evans and Winterstein also picking up tries for the home side.

But a try to Jordan Rapana to close the game put the scoreline back to one more reflective of performance, in what was a dominant afternoon for the Raiders.

The win was also somewhat soured by an injury to five-eighth Aidan Sezer late in the second half, leaving the field with an injured shoulder.

Manly close their season next Sunday night against the finals-bound Panthers at Pepper Stadium, while the Raiders will look to consolidate third and perhaps even jump to second when they face the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt the same afternoon.
