Manly demolish Dogs to reclaim the fortress

v BYE

Manly have finally recorded a win at their fabled fortress 'Lottoland', systematically destroying Canterbury 36-0 on Saturday afternoon in front of 9,210 ardent fans.

A wet field, but a dry afternoon. The boisterous home crowd enjoyed seeing Manly absolutely wipe the floor with the Bulldogs. It was supposed to be a special day for Brett Morris, celebrating his 200th NRL game, but was marred by another special day - Daly Cherry-Evans having a ball in his 150th first grade appearance.

The game started to deliver points toward the 15th minute, with Dylan Walker running through what seemed to be a hollow Bulldogs defensive line, and this opened up the floodgates for the Sea Eagles

The flood of tries began:
Curtis Sironen - 19'
Brian Kelly - 25'
Brian Kelly - 35'
Tom Trbojevic - 38'

Five Tries. Three Conversions. At halftime, the list of scorers looked more like a list you'd see after the full 80, including Brian Kelly's first double at NRL level. A combination of Tom Trbojevic and Mr. 150th, Daly Cherry-Evans, saw 'Tommy Turbo' cross the line just before the break. Their speed and finesse were no match for the Bulldogs.

A half-time chat in the sheds did nothing for the Bulldogs, as Manly reopened their second half with a try to Apisai Koroisau in the 47th minute. For the next half hour after the resumption of play, it was a lot of regular club footy that goes back and forth. The game begun to fill with errors and penalties from both sides, it was a pretty average session.

To put the nail in the coffin for the Bulldogs, and to stop them scoring ANY points, a beautiful run down the sideline by Akuila Uate saw Manly cap a victorious afternoon to claim a 36-0 victory.

Next Week:

Manly are heading to Allianz to take on the Roosters on Friday Night at 6pm

Bulldogs are going to Olympic Park for their first ANZ Stadium home game this season, on Thursday night against the Broncos.
